Apartment in Polanie Ekolan is a private residence located in Gdynia, Poland.
It was designed by Dragon Art in 2013.

Apartment in Polanie Ekolan by Dragon Art:

“In a spacious, 84-metres (904 square feet) apartment it is easy to feel holiday, seaside climate. A simple Scandinavian style and bright colours with a bit of turquoise make this interior a place where one can rest as if one were at the seaside. The idea was simple: the flat was going to be modern, bright and full of light, decorated with economical furniture but in a way which would make it aesthetic and functional.

The interior designers Anna Maria Sokołowska from Dragon Art Design Studio in Gdynia and Maria Piątkowska chose IKEA furnishings which in this case acquired exquisite, Scandinavian frame. The interior attracts one’s attention with its open space – the living room, the hall and a big kitchen with a dining room make one whole. Even though the space is not divided by any walls the functional areas which are clearly separated give an impression of order and well-organized space, additionally accentuated by subdued colours and carefully selected accessories.

The living room is separated from the kitchen with a big, family table of natural colour to which the cult DAW chairs designed by famous designers Charles and Ray Eames have been matched.

The classics of design have given the interior a noble character and the white backrests optically lit up the interior. An open kitchen is light and modern – the white lower cupboards bring out the turquoise colour of the upper ones. This is a colour which is present in different parts of the flat: on the TV wall cupboards, on the facade of the chest of drawers in the bedroom, on the bed covers and cushions, on the photo wallpaper in the bathroom and first of all in the accessories. It is a strong and refreshing colour on the white background.

The living room has been arranged with Scandinavian simplicity. The simple blocks of dark rest furniture make a successful duet with decorative lighting in an immortal connection of black and white colours. The colour of the floors also refers to the Scandinavian roots – white oak panels have been used in the whole flat. There is only one step from a monochromatic living room to the bedroom – a real realm of white and turquoise. A big, comfortable bed has been chosen by the designers from IKEA bedroom collection, as well as other furnishings and fabrics in the room.

The custom-made curtains and Roman blinds really hit the bull’s-eye – the interior is full of peace and harmony thanks to them. A real holiday oasis is the bathroom – a ‘wow’ effect has been achieved thanks to dreamlike photo wall paper with seaside landscape. Nothing can compete with such spectacular decorative element so the wall panelling has been selected in white and grey colours. A big mirror multiplies the exotic picture and makes this small bathroom look bigger.”
