Elegant Holleb Residence by John Friedman Alice Kimm Architects

Holleb Residence is a project completed by John Friedman Alice Kimm Architects in 2011.

Covering an area of 4,000 square feet, the home is located in Santa Monica, California, USA.

“The Holleb Residence is a 4,000 square foot home for a family of four in the Ocean Park neighborhood of Santa Monica. Its main organizing feature is a sculptural stair and second floor “cut-out” terrace that splits the house into front and back zones.

On the ground floor, the structure’s main entry separates the garage and guest room from the kitchen, dining, and living areas, which flow out into the back yard. On the second floor, the terrace and atrium provide privacy between the parents’ suite and their children’s bedroom and play areas, which overlook the play spaces in the rear.

The residence differs from the firm’s other houses in its inclusion of many smaller spaces and rooms, all intended for specific uses by its inhabitants, but all held together by the circulation system and the centrally-located double-height living room.”

Classic Apartment Refurbishment by CHI-TORCH Interior Design

Apartment Refurbishment is a remodeling project carried out by CHI-TORCH Interior Design in 2014.

The home is located in Taipei City, Taiwan, and covers an area of 1,948 square feet.

“It is a case about 40 year-old vintage apartment. To respect its history, CHI-TORCH deliberately made conscious efforts to retain details of time manifestation and proudly displaying building materials that many try to conceal.

The concept is blended with minimalism and industrial. CHI-TORCH specifically seeks out prefect mixture of sunshine and inner space by lowering window rails to maximize outside picturesque scene.

On the other hand, man-made and antique-chic look object is the result of CHI-TORCH’s idea whither it is a herringbone parquet flooring, naturally unfinished brick-works, lighting, gadget or furniture that are made from steel, metal or aged endemic woods of Taiwan preferably worn down or salvaged and recycled.

To sum, CHI-TORCH passionately designed and selected pieces that are as much about function as style to add historic and modern co-existing spirits to the most thoughtfully designed home.”
